PS3 file system broken and only option after the message is formatting?

Hello. I wanted to play something on my PS3 again, but then I got a message saying the file system was corrupted and it needed to be formatted. I find this very strange, since I had already played something on it earlier that day. Should I format the hard drive and do something else?

I wanted to play on the Ps3 again what, then came the message that the file system is broken and it MUSS formatted

This can be two things

  1. a logical defect may have occurred due to a software error (zB incorrectly or incompletely written entry in the file system)
  2. the HDD itself can have a physical problem (due to the age of HDD, the head or the magnetic surface can be worn and therefore there are read errors, firmware problems, etc.)

You should check the SMART values (e.g. with Crystal DiskInfo – to expand the HDD and connect to the PC) to see if there are hidden sectors, etc. If the HDD is still in order, you can easily format it – but you lose old data…

If you still need the data, you can save it with DMDE from the HDD if it’s okay.

If not, report again and I tell you how you retrieve data from an HDD with physical problems.

If you don’t mind, you have to do it. You can also get it to repair man, but I don’t know if he does that
