Proxmox web GUI not accessible?

I installed Proxmox on my Dell r710 and then connected it to the LAN. After entering the address the server returned into various web browsers (on the computer that's also connected to the LAN), I always get the message that the site is unavailable.

Do I have to connect the server to the computer separately or is there something wrong with the firewall or am I doing something else wrong?

I often see in tutorials that people simply enter the address in a web browser without doing anything else and are taken to the Proxmox interface.

What am I doing wrong?

How did you assign the IP? By DHCP or manually? If manually, does everything fit the existing network?

Are you in the same subnet and do you also give the port for the WebUI?

Is the computer penable? Have you taken steps other than the installation of Proxmox?

but when the server was set, I took the IP that was already there

What do you mean, "the IP that was already there"? Which IP did you take?

Besides, how do I check if it fits the network?

By looking at the address area and the subnet mask of your network and comparing it with your set address.

Can you compare this with your end device?

or whether she's already occupied?

You can only know or check this in your network. In a case of doubt, ping the IP or running an IP scanner over the local network and see if the IP is occupied or not. Ideally, the server is designed to see if another device already has the IP.

I should be on the same network, so both devices are connected to the same router.

Just because the devices are connected to the same router, they are not necessarily on the same network.

I've done the normal installation and not much more and how do I know if the server can be pierced or not?

Run a ping to the server from another device on the network. If he answers, he's a bit tangible. He doesn't answer, just not…

192.168.100.2:8006 would be the current IP from the server

  1. No, only 192.168.100.2 would be the IP. The 8006 is the port you can access the WebUI via HTTPS
  2. Where is the 100 in the third block now? Your network has a 1 stand there…

it would then be correct in 192.168.1.2:8006 who it is not in the DHCP area, right?

I can’t tell you what’s set for your DHCP area, that’s what you need to look at in the DHCP server (probably with your router)

IPv4 address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Subnet mask . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

192.168.1.1

Which device is that? But it seems that your subnetwork is just 192.168.1/24 with Gateway 192.168.1.1 – you should set that with Proxmox, only with a free IP that is NOT in the DHCP range.

If your router passes via DHCP, for example, addresses from 192.168.1.100 – 192.168.1.254, you should choose an IP outside it, such as 192.168.1.42

But you should check what the DHCP area is.

Can you simply insert an Ip later that is in this area and is not occupied?

The host area is then 192.168.1.1 – 192.168.1.254, the 192.168.1.1 being the gateway (the router) for communication to the Internet. Yes, you can simply choose a free IP, while, as mentioned above, you should pay attention to the DHCP area

The IP of the server is clearly not in this area.

You do not give any information about your own network, but it will probably be a 192.168.y.z network with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 – you need to make sure that the server gets an IP of the network area

When placing Proxmox, it has already automatically suggested an IP that I have adopted.

And this is what? And how is the IP range of your home network?

By the way, you can easily share private addresses because they are only valid for your network. These are 192.168.y.z, 172.x.y.z (with 16 <= x <= 31) and 10.x.y.z
