If programs such as discord or certain websites are no longer open despite functioning internet connection, there are several possible causes. Here are the most common reasons and solutions:

1. Internet connection review

Check if other websites like Google or YouTube work. If they work, the problem is not the general Internet connection. Run a network diagnosis: Select right-click the network icon in the taskbar and select “problem treatment”.

Two. DNS problem

A faulty DNS server can prevent programs or websites from being accessible.

– Empty DNS cache: Open the command prompt as administrator and type `ipconfig /flushdns`.

– Change DNS servers: Go to the network settings, click on “Change adapter options”, right-click on the active connection and select “properties”. Double click on “Internet Protocol, version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and enter the DNS addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS).

3. Firewall or antivirus

A firewall or an antivirus program can block certain programs.

– Check in the Windows security options under “Firewall & Network Protection” whether programs like Discord are blocked.

– Deactivate antivirus software to check if the problem is due.

4. proxy or VPN settings

Make sure that no false proxy or VPN settings are active. Go to the Windows settings under “Network and Internet” and deactivate the proxy.

Five. Reset network adapter

Open the command prompt as administrator and type `netsh winsock reset`. Then restart the PC.

6. Check updates

Check whether Windows and the affected programs like Discord are up-to-date.

7. Restart routers

Turn off the router, wait 30 seconds and restart it.

8. Further tests

– Ping-Test: Open the command prompt and give `ping http://www.google.comOne. If you receive a response time, the connection is active.

– Browser problem: Test alternative browsers to ensure that the error is not the default browser.

9. New installation of the programs

If a program like Discord does not work, uninstall it and download the latest version from the official website.

10. Contact us

If all steps remain unsuccessful, the technical support of the program or the internet provider could help.

If you need help with one of the steps, let me know.

  • Is there really an internet connection or just a WLAN connection?
  • Do you call this question through your internet connection?
  • How do you know there’s an Internet connection?

Possible causes:

  • DNS entry is unusable. Try to enter the direct IP. What’s that? Well, you should know what’s wrong. Discord is a little inappropriate.
  • The router spins. Has he been left off for a minute and then restarted?
  • A fun bird manipulated the hosts file.
  • The classic: a Windows update is running straight and that can cause some strange effects.
