Export programs to another hard drive?
Hello everyone, on my PC I have 2 hard drives OS (C:) and DATA (D:)
The hard drive (C:) has 216 GB of storage space. Unfortunately, it's all occupied and I would like to export or move a few programs to (D:) so that I have some free space again.
How exactly do I do that?
When I press cut and try to paste the program into (D:), it tells me I need administrator rights to do this.
Do you know how to do this with administrator rights or is there another way?
Best regards and thanks in advance for your answers 🙂
Try not to copy any FALLES program files by hand!
This has the reason because fixed paths are entered in the registration database and in settings, which are now still on C: show.
Go as follows:
Open the system control, go to the 1st point system and select the “Save” tab. There you can set where programs are to be saved, but I don’t have the mind whether it works for single programs, rather not.
That’s what it looks like:
Hey,
if you simply hide the folders of the programs, they will probably no longer work properly. You need to uninstall this and specify a different location during installation. Many installers offer this option, often you have to click on “Advanced settings” or similar during installation.

I would like to endorse the answer.
The easiest thing is to reinstall the programs and then add the new location.
In addition, if you want to continue using the PC for a few years, I recommend buying a new (larger) hard drive – best a SSD. Then you reinstall Windows (previously backup important files on the other hard drive) and then have a rest with the storage space.
It would be annoying if I had to choose a different place at every installation.
I recommend 1 TB storage, costs around 80 €, possibly also 512 GB.
The Administrator permissions has its meaning, because otherwise ignorant important programs change and in the end nothing goes. Just save where space is.
