END THE PROGRAM FOR MY GRANDMA?

Hi, I'm my grandma's grandson. She bought a new MacBook Air M1 2022 with Mac OS Sonoma 14. We noticed that when you click the "X" to close the program, the program actually stays open in the background. You can close it properly via the toolbar at the top, then click the app, and then click Force Quit. But that's annoying for my grandma. Is there a way to set it so that clicking the "X" closes the program completely, or closes it automatically after a certain amount of time? Do you have any ideas? Thanks for replying!
Best regards

No. That’s not possible. macOS is based on Linux and therefore works differently than Windows.

The X closes the window just opened. If it is the last of the programme, the whole programme can be closed, but it does not have to.

Correctly, you end a program under macOS via the program menu (so right next to the apple) and there on “(program name) finish”. See screenshot.

Alternatively, the command-Q key combination is used.

Your path is not so good, data can be lost or the program files can be damaged. The way is only possible if a program is absolutely no longer responding. What happens very rarely.
