Internship in a retirement home/primary school?
Hey, I'll be starting vocational school soon and am now considering whether to do the one-year internship at a primary school or in a retirement home.
I don't have much to do with children or older people, so I really can't decide yet. I really like the idea of being able to give grandmas and grandpas a good time. But I think it would be just as nice to help children further their education.
Maybe someone here has experience and can help me out. Thanks 🙂

Soo I’ve already done in a kindergarten, and also a big family with children, and in the long run this can be quite a lot because you have a lot of educational at the kindergarten and in the old age home, they’re hopefully all grown up. So if you say yes I have Bock’s influence on the kids, and I’m ready to bear the responsibility then definitely do that. If you don’t, and you’d rather have opis a good time with Omis, but you can be really constant for them, do that. That’s more time-consuming. Hope I could help.

I have experiences at the Alteheim since I had an internship myself. I would recommend it to you if you could force it to see people who can no longer open their eyes, cannot move and look like “skeleton.” (but still alive) Of course I don’t know how your old home is and whether there are such cases. But with me it was so, and by that I saw these poor people I had to break it off.
Of course, it also has good sides but I had also had a bad experience with a senior woman because she was very unfriendly to me because I did not look her “German” enough.
A grandma was so sweet has embraced me every time when she saw me and was very happy to see me and even wanted to make pictures with me because she was happy that I (or a teenager) started my internship there.
somehow it feels wrong to choose not the old home. I think I’d be sick. 🙁
then choose it. I’m just saying I couldn’t stand it by this experience. You’d probably make some older happy if you did your internship there. Only it will certainly give you that you will see or will experience that you do not want. But 100% so it doesn’t have to be so don’t panic.
