Pony drooling constantly?

Hello everyone,

My 24-year-old Haflinger mare is kept with three other horses. Unfortunately, she's the only one who's constantly drooling. So it can't be the hay or grass.

She had her teeth pulled a few weeks ago, and now everything's fine again. She's been drooling green or clear saliva all day, basically before and after eating. I'm a little confused. The vet and dentist say everything's fine. She just foams at the mouth when we ride her because she's constantly chewing.

Do you have any ideas as to why this could be happening?

She now stays in a stable with another mare at night, as otherwise she can't eat in peace. She gets hay cubes and wet hay and has Cushing's disease.

Depending on how pronounced the Cushing is your horse may not get sugary food. So no grass, only low sugar hay, or sugar-reduced haycobs and lucerne. No juice.

This has nothing to do with the dental theme now, but I’m mentioning it for the sake of clarity.

depending on which teeth were drawn, this is completely normal. it also hangs with the scraper lining.

you’re gonna kill your horse. it starves at full bauch, because the slim lining is kept for water and simply runs through. the nutrients cannot be removed.

In addition, no longer chews to comminute food leads to further tooth problems.

we feed two old wallaches now for almost 5 years with steh fodder with a small shot paraffin as a kit. for chewing there is mixed full-mesh cube and an energy-rich mixed food, as quetschhafer is too badly utilized.

important is that what comes out in the back must clearly differ from what you fill in in the front. Accordingly, feed components can be matched.

In addition, in spite of self-drinking, one to twice daily hand-warmed water is offered from the ice cream. the additional amount of drink is 5 liters.

your horse is to be classified as old, even if it is only 24.

the average survival with heucobs as the main energy supplier is around the 2 years. Quite often, that a horse lives with it even 4 or more years.

she will never be able to chew so well again.

the heucobs as an addition bring nothing. they only make sure that the pony feels sick.

I’d switch to staple food. there is also the soaking away.

My horses always get hay cobs when the teeth pass by age. That never had any negative consequences. I’d give them hay, they’d have a blurry at once. How do you feed horses that can’t chew anymore?

And a source of your testimony. Heucobs would be welcome. I have, of course, often TÄs, THP and animal clinic on my horses, but that haycobs should not be given permanently hasn’t expressed anyone yet. Because this is really important to me, also English-speaking.

I didn’t understand. What’s food?

I’ve read your answer, so I have my demand. What exactly do you feed as a food? I don’t know the term. And if you give something to chewing, there are still teeth to chew.
