Playing chords without looking?

Hello, a friend of mine recently told me I should stop relying on my eyes when playing chords.

But reaching without looking is pretty difficult for me. How problematic do you see this? Or do you think it will go away naturally over time?

thanks in advance and regards 🙂

This comes with the time alone, but you should also consciously miss out on the “control view” as soon as you can safely grasp the individual chords.
With each new chord, the control view must of course be first, but as soon as the cerebral brain has “stored” the motor sequence and thus has developed an automatic system, the eye control only interferes.

What instrument are we talking about? On the piano this should be natural, on the guitar, at least all open basic chords. It is necessary to practice when it is lying on the sofa in the evening.

Good luck!

At some point, the fingers find their place on the fingerboard by themselves – just practice long enough, then it comes!

I don’t play guitar, but with me it worked on my own with time without looking, the more often I practiced. :

Sure. After some time, it works without looking. It must be, otherwise you can’t play liquid and not at all.

Come from time alone!

It’s just movements, patterns, etc…. you’ll notice at some point!

And with me it’s almost the reverse! It irritates me when I look… XD
I’d rather play without casting, but I’d rather feel it!
