Play It Takes Two on PC with a PS5 controller?
Hi, I'd like to play on PC with a PS5 controller, but unfortunately, it only works through Steam. I want to play It Takes Two, which I got through Xbox Game Pass. But when I use the PS5 controller, the game only recognizes it as a keyboard, and I can't use it properly. I've also tried adding the game to Steam as a third-party game, but I could never add it properly and could only click around in the folders. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
To use your PS5 controller for It Takes Two via the Xbox Game Pass on your PC, there are a few possible solutions:
1. Use DS4Windows
What’s that? DS4Windows is a program that emulates PS controllers as an Xbox controller, making games better recognize it.
Here we go:
1. Download and install DS4Windows from the official website.
Two. Connect your PS5 controller to the PC via cable or Bluetooth.
3. Open DS4Windows and make sure your controller is detected.
4. Start the game from the Xbox Game Pass – DS4Windows will emulsify the controller as an Xbox controller.
Two. Check Xbox App Controller settings
Sometimes the Xbox app doesn’t recognize the PS5 controller properly. Try:
1. Start the game and connect the controller only after the start.
Two. Go to “Controller” in the game settings and check the input settings. Make sure no keyboard mode is enabled.
3. Use Steam Controller Support
Although you start the game through the Xbox Game Pass, you can still use Steam:
1. Open Steam and go to settings > Controller > General Controller settings.
Two. Activate PlayStation configuration support.
3. Add It Takes Two as “Steam Alien Game”:
In Steam: Add games > Add a Steam strange game.
Choose the .exe file from It Takes Two. You can find them in the Xbox app installation folder.
Start the game on Steam.
4. Your PS5 controller should now be recognized.
4. ReWASD (paid)
What’s that? ReWASD is a tool that flexibly redirects the controller inputs.
If DS4Windows does not work, you can remake the PS5 controller with ReWASD as an Xbox controller.
Five. Handling Game Pass Compatibility Problems
Some games from the Xbox Game Pass have problems with non-Xbox controllers. If nothing works, you could use an Xbox controller test.
Important notice
Make sure all drivers are up-to-date. Also check whether the PS5 controller is displayed correctly in the Windows device manager.
