Record crackles briefly when the needle is put on?
Hello, when I lower the tonearm onto the edge of my turntable, it crackles loudly for a moment, but then it works perfectly. Is that normal?
The needle is new, I dusted the record beforehand and it's also new, what else could be wrong?
The tonearm would be adjusted
Perhaps the whole dust is not yet removed or there are the finest micro scratches on it. Whenever you put on the tone arm, it can form something like that. With an antistatic plate brush you get the dust quite well, but the finest scratches are not.
By the way… This clinker at the beginning is pure nostalgia for me. ECT
the plate brush has rusted with me without end, fortunately saw it on a white vinyl. Unfortunately, there are already hundreds of fine skins hanging in the groove and otherwise it runs perfectly, only if I put it on the edge. I’ll put it on the inside
Maybe turn the volume down from the amplifier… then it’s cracking quieter.
It’s normal when it’s put on until the head found its groove.
Okay, thanks, I’m just afraid I’m gonna get a scratch in my head?
This is harmless, and better turntables lower the tone head slowly enough.
