It is primarily not about the sharpness, but about the focal length that is needed. Croppen is also not a flat-rate solution in the long term, as you also reduce the BQ. If you don’t just photograph a flight show, the AF is less important. Aircraft are visually not so fast, because the size also has quite a lot of buffers in terms of the sharpness area and, above all, the trajectory can also be predicted. F8 is quite bad for night recordings, although the 150-600 is not very strong.
Would the 150-600 surcharge be worthwhile?
I would choose the Canon RF, especially since the Sigma (I believe at least) is only available with EF connector and you need to use an adapter for the R, aside, the RF is cheaper
The question was answered to you months ago. Why again instead of simply resetting the same question? Or go to a photo shop and ask if you can try it.
The sigma has a little slower autofocus, which sometimes gets quite a bit. At 388mm already at f/6.3. On the other hand, the RF 100-400mm is at 259-400mm at f/8. These are 2/3 apertures difference, i.e. the difference between ISO 100 and 160. Or ISO 400 to 640.

Only at higher ISO values is this important. In addition, since you’re using the whole R100, it’s hard to assume that you need it for professional recordings, and you don’t need the Nonplusultra. Better buy a license from Topaz Photo A.I.
It should also be taken into account that the sigma weighs much more, almost 2kg. Not so horny for recordings from the hand. The Canon weighs 635gr.
the Sigma is preferable
Here someone wrote an informative post:
That’s what the questioner knows.
Yes. He has been asking questions about sigma and planespotting since a 3⁄4.
The answer is partly nonsense, because if the RF 100-400mm can be a little good, then it will focus quickly with its Nano USM engine.
Well, in two years he decided… There are other attractive lenses, and he wants something completely different… Doesn’t seem to be such an important issue when it’s so long… 😁
