Pilot with type 1 diabetes?
Is it true that you can become a pilot in Great Britain or Canada?
If that's true and I train to be a pilot there, would it be possible to work as a pilot in Germany? Or will my pilot's license somehow not be recognized because of my diabetes?
Hi. I’m type 1 and I’ve been dealing with it for a long time and I’ve bought my PPL myself in Florida.
There are the following ways to be a professional pilot or airline pilot in Europe or Germany.
I’ll write in a minute and you’ll be allowed to continue research.
Pull to Canada
Get a TCCA Class 1 medical in Canada.
Go to the flight school and complete this (ATPL)
Find an airline that introduces non resident pilots or live in Canada for a few years and become Canadians.
Join Canadian Airlines.
Sammle flight experience at least 500 or 1500h
Find a doctor in Europe who will send you an EASA class 1 medical using the protocols from Ireland or Austria.
With the help of this medical, you can carry out multicrew operations as FO on OE and EI registered machines within Europe and International
Join Airlines to fly the OE or EI registered aircraft.
You need money and time.
So it would really surprise me if it were SO easy. After all, if you apply to a German airline, you have to go back to the medical, and that every 12 months. If something is found there, which is not suitable for you there, then you can take pilot tickets from abroad as you want I fear….
I don’t know how this is in general with diabetes.
