Pilot of two different types of aircraft? [ Airbus – Lufthansa ]

Hello,

I have a question

Do you know or do you think it is possible to work in two different types of aircraft (at the same time) if you want to become a pilot at Lufthansa, for example? I'm thinking that this shouldn't be a problem with Airbus (A330-300 and A340-300), as they are the same cockpits.

Hello,

Well, at the same time you don’t work if you don’t believe in magic, because it means “at the same time”. This is of course not possible.

But if you think it’s possible to buy 2 type ratings to fly both flyers alternately: Yes, that goes. First of all, the rule applies in principle to aircraft: a pilot, a pattern. One exception is that Airbus is allowed to be approved by LBA and practised at LH:

At A330 / A340, both patterns – regardless of the line number – are entered in the license. Basic pattern is the A340, here the first pattern authorization is acquired. A type rating is always valid for 12 months. After the first extension of the A340 rating, you will then make an extension to the A330, which is called CCQ (Cross Crew Qualification).

Both ratings are then adjusted by the LBA (if appropriate a pattern is shortened) in such a way that they overlap each other by 6 months. This means that the FCL check of one pattern is always the OPS check of the other pattern.

The FCL check is the check for the type rating, which is valid for 12 months; the OPC is valid for only 6 months. That’s how you hit two flies with a flap.

For example: T/R A340 valid from 01.01.13 to 01.01.14. The FCL-Check A330 is then performed on 01.07.13 and is valid until 01.07.14.

On 01.01.14 the FCL A340, valid until 01.01.15; on 01.07.14 the FCL A330, valid until 01.07.15 etc. Checks do not have to be accurate on the day, as the procedure allows a check within 90 days before the expiry. There are a few more subtleties, but they don’t care.

The cockpit deployment planning then has to ensure that a pilot can always detect enough start and landings on both patterns and must also assign it to the corresponding simulator check. In addition, the prescribed so-called. “Refresher” every 6 months changing each pattern.

So this is possible. And the method is different to the A320-Family, where you get the A318/319/320/321 entry into the license with a type rating.

because I also am interested in the professional pilot and make myself more often smart I can tell you that the lufthansa this year is not looking for pilots, and that before you fly for the lufthansa you will only be accommodated at the daughter companies, which will also result in lufthansa’s good call in the field of safety, as only very experienced pilots fly

So… I don’t think you can be on two planes at the same time. But you can continue as a pilot (visit seminars / training) to fly more machines. If you mean that. But I don’t know who has to pay this. Just ask the trainer during the training, he should know.

Of course you do. It must be that way. Imagine that every pilot could only fly a guy…. how many pilots do you need at the LH?

Every LH pilot is flying a pattern. There is an exception, see in my answer. That’s why LH needs about 4,500 pilots.
