Since Al has only roughly 1/3 of the density of steel, an Al body would be as heavy as the Fe body only at three times the volume.

Since the above-mentioned bicycle the Al volume is less than twice the Fe volume…

Many tasks can be solved more quickly with a short consideration than with a long calculation 😉

Mass “m” is equal density “ρ” times volume “V”:

So it is necessary to find out the density of steel and aluminum and to apply twice the above formula. Then you check which mass is larger.

Search the density of both substances in a table.

Formula: density = mass/volume.
