Photo ID Deutsche Bahn what is important?
I will be traveling with Deutsche Bahn soon and I need an official photo ID.
However, my fictitious certificate expires one day before the trip and I don't know if I'll get a new one in time. Is that important for the inspection?
I've already applied for an extension for my residence permit. I've temporarily received a fictitious certificate. But my passport itself isn't expiring yet. So would that be a problem for me? I actually only need to show a valid official photo ID, which I have. Theoretically, I shouldn't have any problems with that, right?

No problem a passport is enough because it is an official photo ID. You can reject, everything else doesn't care about the train!

Yeah, that should fit. A passport is also an official photo ID, there should be no problems.
I hope you're right to feel like a dumb as my passport is valid and only the fiction certificate has expired, which is not necessarily the decisive one. This is also sufficient for a passport at the DB website and it is valid for me, but it just needed a confirmation again.

The passport is significantly more relevant than a fictional certificate. Means even if they were up to date, take the passport.
