Horse on vacation, 2 weeks alone?
Hey. We're currently in the process of buying a horse and were thinking about taking it with us to my grandpa's next year. We'd stay there for a week or two. He has a paddock in the back with a shelter, etc. It's a beautiful area with great riding areas and other things. However, it would have to stay on its own for a week or two. Would that be possible, or would we need to find someone to accompany it during that time?
I wouldn’t do it. The strange environment alone is already stressful for the horse and if it is still alone….
I went to Lüneburger Heide with my horse. But I had another Haflinger. The two horses knew themselves very well, but they did not like each other. The Haflinger tended to drive and kick my horse, which unfortunately never fought to the corner.
But in the stranger they were like bad luck and sulfur, and the new friendship also remained when they were home. The long suspension drive and experience the strangers together have welded them together.
No, that’s not gonna happen to you.
It is anti-animal to keep a horse alone!
This is basic knowledge!
If you want to get a horse, you must know.
Of course, you could get an adjuster for these two weeks, but that would not really be better, it would probably be pure stress for both animals.
If the two don’t understand, this could also cause some problems!
No, I can’t. That’s terrible for the horse.
And also the socialization with an unknown horse, only for two weeks, is absolutely not animal-friendly (better than all alone clear, but scarcely a lot of stress, and where should the strange horse suddenly come from?)
Take a man from the local stable. Taking out the familiar environment is so much stress (I suppose it is not a tournament horse). Horses are very different with something like this, get to know it first, and then decide what action you can plan.
And please let yourself always be advised by someone with a clue, the riding teacher, the stable owner. I hope this is your wish and your parents have not planned this too, because actually at least basic knowledge about the animal should be available before one acquires one and all decisions must be made. Please work closely with professionals, there are so many things (also in handling) that can be fatally wrong with pure ignorance.
Ne was just an idea:) That he has a coupling:)
Okay, then I’m a little calm. It helps a lot, also for dealing with theory and the fundamental nature of the horse. Ask your questions about behavior etc to your contact person in the stable, not just when riding. as you learn a lot and such questions as these are automatically reluctant.
No, I can’t. Is there no stable near your pony?
It’s hard to judge without knowing your horse.
Every horse is a group animal. For every horse it is anti-animal to keep it alone.
