Period delayed?
Hello,
I had to take an antibiotic for two weeks. The doctor said it was possible the pill wasn't working.
Actually, my boyfriend and I used condoms for contraception the whole time.
On the first day of the pill break, we used contraception without a condom, so I took the morning-after pill (2 hours later).
I was supposed to get my period this morning, but I haven't gotten it yet. I usually get it on Saturday mornings.
Could it be the antibiotic or the morning-after pill that is causing my period to be delayed?
Or am I possibly pregnant?
The “patch afterwards” completely messes up the cycle. It is not possible to predict after taking if the next bleeding will occur,
It was certainly a completely avoidable use of the pill afterwards. Why did you have sex without prevention? Now you have to avoid a whole cycle differently!
Ratschlag:
Wait for bleeding and then start taking the pill again. You are then protected after seven days of correct intake.
Of course, this applies only if the end of the antibiotic intake is at least seven days ago.
Thank you. So I should just wait until my period enters and only when she’s over again starts taking?
I usually have to start again on Wednesday.
Yes, wait for bleeding and then start and then you are protected after seven days of correct intake.
Hello lisa2702
If the antibiotic really impairs the protection (if you get out of the supplemental leaflet of the antibiotic, you are under interactions) then you are no longer protected. However, you have to additionally prevent the next 7 uninterrupted days of taking pills after putting off the antibiotic. The pill Qlaira is 9 days. In the break, however, you are only protected if you have taken the pill 14 days before (Qlaira 24 days, Belara 21 days) error-free and you continue taking it after the break. If you are not protected during the break, you must have the first 7 or 9 days of new pill intake additionally prevent

NOTE: If you take the pill after that you can lose the protection of the pill. The protection will only begin once the pill has been removed after the pill at least 14 days uninterrupted and error-free.
Only a pregnancy test can give you safety. A blood test is possible at the earliest 9 days after the conception. With a test strip you get a result after 14-19 days.
