PC was it really shaking a lot?

Today, I shook my desk a lot while my PC was running. I read online that this causes the hard drive to fail quickly. Is this true, and if so, how can I find out if something is broken? (Or would the hard drive no longer be recognized immediately, or could the problem only occur after some time?)

If a hard drive is shaken during reading or writing, there is a risk that sectors become unusable – in extreme cases the whole hard drive.
An SSD is considerably more robust in this respect.

Whether your hard drive already has damage, you can find a suitable tool like “CrystalDiscInfo”.

On the one hand, you usually do not completely break the plate.

Evtl, you don’t notice anything about defects.

Yeah, you hit or crash can break something. But not by shaking

I used to throw my PC around and the HDD has remained completely, I guess she’ll have survived. HDDs are not so sensitive.

When the head hits the plate already

How probable is it that happens when you’re shaking? This would have to be done with a vibrating plate
