PC shows no picture and keyboard and mouse do not light up?

I've just built a PC for my boyfriend and when we turned it on all the fans were spinning including the CPU cooler but we're not getting any signal on the screen and the keyboard and mouse aren't lit up either. We connected it to the GPU with a DisplayPort cable, tried a different monitor, used a DVI cable, checked the cables, tried updating the motherboard with a stick even though it should be compatible without an update, swapped the RAM sticks, removed the battery in the motherboard for 30 seconds but nothing helped, the POST error code doesn't show anything either, unfortunately I don't have a speaker. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

Here are the individual components:

GTX 1050

32GB DDR3

i5-4570

MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming motherboard

Given the context and your answers to csor77, the problem is largely limited to:

  • R.A.M.
  • Motherboard

a.

RAM errors can always have "funny" effects – without RAM, nothing works – there's not even a picture. It doesn't even have to be the RAM stick – it could also be the RAM slot – in other words, the motherboard.

Since, according to your statement, the CPU is intact, the question would also be whether you have installed a PC speaker so that you can hear pre-boot errors (beep codes).

If it beeps once, everything is fine – all other codes must be looked up in the motherboard manual.

Remove the graphics card, the i5-4570 has an integrated iGPU, and connect the monitor to the mainboard (at the top where the mouse and keyboard are).
This eliminates the graphics card as the source of the problem.

Then maybe just use one RAM stick first and test it in different slots.

Have the board and CPU ever worked together?

Check the power connector on the board again, especially the small 4 or 8 pin on the CPU.

That's a pity,
Is the CPU intact? Can it be tested on another board?

Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is to disconnect the front panel connections from the board and leave only the power button on.
(I once had an old case where the reset button kept triggering, so it wasn't possible to start it).
