He also said he would transfer the money first and then I should send the item.

This is the usual procedure.

Can anything go wrong?

No.

Once the money is in your account, no one else can access it except you.

Nobody can do anything with your bank details, even if ignorant people keep claiming otherwise.

And if someone does attempt a debit – which is extremely unlikely – you can return unauthorized direct debits within 13 months :

Very important:

  • Do not respond to alleged emails from banks, but only send them after you have convinced yourself that the money is actually in your account has been received.
  • Only send tracked.

Not at all, but watch your account on suspicious money drains and don’t trust any document that won’t get directly from your bank by yourself and on which the cash receipt was recorded. Some are sending pictures of fake transfers for fraud. But these are only pictures that prove nothing. Another attack vector is that you get a link on which you should enter your bank details, for example for the “delivery” of the money. You shouldn’t do that either.

Every transfer in this banking system needs the IBAN of the account to flow to the money. The weak point: If he knows which branch you are, he can file a paper transfer that instructs money from your account to another account. Sometimes ignorant people claim that this is not possible, but they don’t know.

This is not so easy with the paper transfer. The account holder must then be signed by hand. The banks shall sign the same signatures before each execution. If there are differences to the deposited signature, the transfer is rejected.

No, the signatures are unfortunately often irrelevant in the evaluation, unless there is a large amount.

In the self-test, Udo Hagemann passed an amount of 50 euros to the account of his superior – and signed clearly legible with Micky Mouse. If it is true that the signatures are checked individually, the bank would have to notice the wrong signature. But the result was sobering. As early as the following day, the money arrived at the target account.

You're right. But is this source not a search by the police in which gaps are discovered / were?! A gap is an interruption of regularity. So the signature must be checked. That's how my bank does this. Over the years, my signature changed. I gave up new signature samples, after which my transfers went through again.

One thing is certain… Nowadays nothing is more safe 😉
