Patch a hole in the gas tank?

Hello, I discovered a small crack or something similar in the plastic gas tank on my scooter, and gas is slowly leaking out. I tried to repair it by melting a generous amount of plastic from a disinfectant bottle and dripping it onto the area. However, after I repaired it, the gas still leaked out just like before. Spare parts are very difficult to find because the scooter is relatively old, so I wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it. Regards

You need the same plastic for “welding” and also need to heat the cleaned spot on the tank well.

This can become dense, but also fail.

I have only been involved once when a PP air filter box has been repaired with an ignited piece of PP and a few times I have made small repairs on plastic shells and the like in this way but with a soldering iron.

There’s got to get the petrol out and the tank cleaned. Then repair with GFK mats. It’s nothing for amateurs.

Is that for HDPE?

It depends on the material. Plastic is not plastic. I guess HDPE.

What scooter model do you have?
