This comes back to the one who left it. When I write, I use names that are rarer in use like e.g. Sierra or Niambh (Neeve).
If you find the name beautiful, suitable for your figure, you should use it. Depending on what role the figure plays, this name can even give the additional kick.

I like the name frankly didn’t stand special, but that’s a personal impression. Of course, a figure can also be called Iris, the name would be suitable both for the German and for the English-speaking space and I even know a fantasy figure (if you want to call it that) with the name.
Doesn’t mean using it.
In particular, it is good that he is NORMAL and therefore fits significantly better into the real world of today than any compelling fantasy constructs or names on Fanfiction level a la Sky Destiny Yuki-chan Paris Schmitz.

This depends on how old the fantasy figure is and on all other details. But you need to know that yourself. I can imagine Iris could fit well!
