The options are explained by all three on the website:

  • The “Papyrus 12” option is the full version of the program.
  • Under the option “Education” students, students and trainees can buy Papyrus 12 cheaper. At least in the old versions it was always the full version. Since there’s nowhere on the website that it’s a split-up version, it’s probably going to be the case. If you’re entitled to it, you can write and ask another e-mail for security.
  • The “Upgrade” option allows people who already have an old Papyrus author version to update to Papyrus Author 12.

Since you are looking for a new write program, upgrade will be the wrong option for you. If you are entitled to Papyrus Education, you can only know.

Then it’s a good idea. If you’re going to give up, there’s also “more convenient for…”. This also clearly states that it is still the full version.

I moved to Papyrus Author 8 a few years ago and have now also updated to version 12. I am very happy with the program and would make the decision again and again.

I can’t make a recommendation for this or another program. Not every author has the same needs when writing. Have you been writing stories for a long time or are you going to try out as an author? If so, what writing program do you use so far and why are you looking for a new one? What operating systems does the program have to be compatible with?
