Outbound flight twice as long as return flight why?
Hello folks. We will soon be flying from Basel Airport to Greece in Crete. The outward flight takes 4 hours, but the return flight only 2 hours. And this is with the same airline TuiFly Why is it like this? I have looked everywhere for an explanation on the website but have found nothing. Thanks in advance.
I think there are two different routes. You can’t fly exactly the same way back than you fly. Because what would happen if a plane came up?
That’ll be the reason.
When I flew Dubai, it was 6 hours and back 5. Egypt was similar.
The flight time from countries such as Germany, Switzerland or Austria to Greece is about 3 hours. Plus minus 30-45 minutes. This extreme time difference will only be due to summer/winter time. The Greeks are ahead of the German/Swiss one hour in the summer.
Take a look at the time of flight. There you will see that this only minimally deviates from each other upon return flight. The winds are calculated.
Look at the arrival and departure time you rarely get the real time of flight.
Thus, it is even possible to land again before the actual start, i.e. for flights over the date limit.
Or you can cross the entire USA (New York – Los Angeles) in 2 hours. In reality, the flight naturally takes much longer. Just the time shift makes it look like that.
Is that the time of flight or the time of departure and landing?
it will probably be – or the tail wind? LOL
I think it’s very strong. Greece is one hour more than we are. I don’t know how it looks like the summer time. The description of the questioner speaks very much for time comparison.
You’re flying in both Directions about 3 hours 🙂
The supposedly different time spans are the summer time or Time zone time is due as the time of departure and arrival time is always specified.

There is a simple explanation for this: The flight probably takes three hours.
The arrival and departure times are always indicated in local time. Crete has one hour difference to Basel (to convert Baseler to Crete time you have to add one hour). This is a total of four hours on three hours of flight. Back you have to take off the hour again, there are two hours of flying time, although you are in the air for three hours.
In Greece is another time. They’re an hour earlier. Rechne himself. If you’re out here at 10, you’re normal at 13:00. On site it is already 14:00. On the way back it is reversed……
Are you sure that the time of departure and the time of arrival is not the time of flight in hours?
Example Condor:
Hanover – Antalya 13:25 – 17:55 looks like 4:40, but is (3:30 h)
Antalya – Hannover 20:50 – 23:35 looks like 2:35 h, but is (3:45 h)
Sorry, correction:
Hanover – Antalya 13:25 – 17:55 looks like 4:30 h, but is (3:30 h)
Antalya – Hanover 20:50 – 23:35 looks like 2:45 h, but is (3:45 h)
so one hour is definitely different from the time zone
Greece is located in a time zone other than Germany.
otherwise: may there be a stop when returning somewhere?!
hihi, the flight is the same time. Only here is summer time and there not. 🙂
The flight is not the same long, but the Coriolis power is unlikely to have any effect here. However, Greece is in a different time zone, regardless of the summer time.
Do you have to change on the flight?
That would be an explanation!?
Love
Probably there’s an intermediate landing on the flight.
or the pilot does not know
Then you’re gonna fly with a bridge.
Interim landing somewhere?
also hangs from the wind
the wind blows from the west
No. Up from the east (Corioliskraft)
