I’d leave my fingers. Not only are the individual engineering sciences very different, but above all sustainability can mean a lot of different, and there is no tangible knowledge that all forms of sustainability have in common and that would not be settled elsewhere. I suspect that setting up such a stupid course of study could serve the purpose of attracting young world improvers who normally feel technology as a pfui. But this will go into the pants because they do not have a professional perspective. It reminds me of my nephew. As a gifted person, he also wanted to study something like a world-densification theory and thought that a climate-neutral future is based on electricity, so I study electrical engineering and information technology. Then he realized that in electrical engineering, too, one must torment itself by mathematical modeling, like any engineer, that one must calculate circuits that it is just technology. Then he broke it, studied VWL and received his doctorate summa cum laude. But this led him to the teaching of world improvement, because he was busy with energy networks for years.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. For God’s sake! Here’s a little sniffing, because sometimes a little sniffing, but from these far too many different knowledge disciplines you learn GAR NOTS, compared to someone specializing in something concrete. Only “engineering sciences” or “development and construction” is nothing that you can study as a whole.

As an example for sustainable engineering, you can take me. I am a shipbuilding engineer and have developed and applied a technology for sustainable energy supply. I have calculated for my customers what thrusters need their planned erection ships to build offshore wind turbines in seagoing, storm, and blasting, and I have developed the algorithms to simulate the Dynamic Positionig and left my successors. But what do I have to do with plastic recycling, with low-methane cattle keeping, with the difference between PEM electrolyzers and alkali metal electrolyzers? Nothing!

This is certainly a very important profession in the future. If you do that well, you can make a difference.
