Each of these brands has durable and less durable engines. For example, the “Kent” (partly sold as “Endura”) was very durable, an aggregate for eternity. For example, it was the “Small Block” (very popular: X16 SZR). Some have the same engines (e.g. a 1.2 liter – diesel engine from Fiat was used both at Opel and Ford). A general answer cannot be given. If I had to choose now, I would probably choose Ford from the feeling because there are no more Opel in shape thanks to PSA, and I still trust Ford more than Peugeot / Citroen.

I’m going to endura. Valves must be set quite often. I meanwhile all 20,000 to 30,000km. But otherwise uncomputable.

My first one already had a lot: brake force controller, oil pan pushed through, steering gear and steering joint new, tank neck leaking, door lock broken etc. Well, it was quite disolat from the state.

Yes, unfortunately. The rust was the real problem. Mine was restored. I’m still not finished.

The KA has no such good reputation, but it wasn’t that bad. Problem was the grate

My second was an eyewitness – bought in 2013, 39,000 km on it, from an old grandma, bright red, stainless (even on the tank cover). I photographed it all around because it’s so rare – Ka’s are fast rusters unfortunately. He was sold with profit.

I find ford develops quite well, for example, you cannot complain about the ford focus st and price performance is also quite good

I drove both brands (Ford Mondeo from 1993, Opel Omega from 2003 – in each case the stepped limousines) and was always very satisfied. Just Opel was just my thing and I felt at Opel’s home, there was reliability and robust everyday cars at the always fair price and the service was really good. If Opel was still present in the top class today, I would certainly have entered an Omega C instead of my Mercedes. Signum, Insignia and Zafira Tourer are great cars, but unfit for my requirements.

Both were reliable and I never had major repairs or failures. My Mondeo stayed just before the sale, the battery was at the end after nine years. There were no other problems, even with rust. However, I sold the omega with some dents for 16 years.

At Ford, the processing quality and fineness such as chassis, gear and subjective image were better (which never bothered me, I was not ashamed of being Opel drivers) – Opel was cheaper despite the six-cylinder engine and top class at the prices for inspections, spare parts and repairs. The dealers of both brands were good, with Opel you were a bit more competent, with Ford a little nicer (Opel was always polite, but Ford was still a little family – probably because I wasn’t the only Ford driver from the family at the time). I went to the Ford dealer with the Mercedes for inspections or small repairs or TÜV.

From today’s point of view, I would probably choose Opel because I don’t like the current Ford range anymore, and Ford is now on a lifestyle and expensive basis. A lot of savings about an Audi is no longer given, a pity. The Ford models in our family were replaced by vehicles from Mercedes, Audi, Toyota and Subaru except for the 2007 Mk3 Mondeo of an 86-year-old who no longer buys a new car. Ford is no longer cheap!

Opel is better and honest from price and performance, PSA has also improved significantly in terms of quality, but it is not allowed to say so loudly in VW Germany.

Both brands have their strengths and weaknesses.

At the bottom, they lift each other apart and the personal preference remains.

I’m driving a focus. If I had to choose between Ford and an equivalent Opel at the time of purchase, I would have thrown a coin.

Maya707

So I’ve had much better experiences with Ford, and I’ve already heard some of them who say the same.

This, however, usually concerned models from the late 90s.

I had an Astra F, who abandoned me three times, despite little Km. A friend with her Corsa B had her car more in the workshop than on the street.

Mine, so far, three Ford had never done problems. Once the clutch was in the old Ka at 200,000km.

My neighbour constantly complains about her Astra Kombi, which is just 5 years old. Maybe everything’s just bad luck.

But since I never really had trouble with Ford, I would always decide. The new models should also be very reliable. I haven’t had any experiences yet.

David812

So purely subjectively considered Ford.

I like them better and pure from the feeling that drive better or Calm down.

That is really extremely subjective.

Well-known, tastes are different. I don’t think you can compare a Opel with a Ford at all. Ford brings VIEL better and more beautiful cars out than Opel. At Opel, one thinks more of the ollen models like cadet, Astra, Corsa . At Ford on the cream de la cream “Mustang”

I had a Ford Garanda 2.8 combination and also a Opel Senator 3.0. At that time I was quite satisfied with both vehicles. The Ford had space without end and the Opel was a cozy limo.

Today, if I had to, I would buy a Ford again. But I decided for Hyundai now.

Because I like Opel better from the look.
Ford builds ugly cars, but it’s a matter of taste.

From technology and quality, neither

However, I would not drive Opel or Ford as a private vehicle.

Toyota has the better quality and reliability.

The last really good Ford was the Granada Kombi and the last good Opel of the Senator / Monza.

Japp, because Ford has evolved over the years. I don’t know any of the dissatisfied. With Opel, however, more often.

I didn’t have very good experiences with Opel. Three times left. With Ford, previously had three, only once at 200,000km, the clutch.

17 times the question is put back! Krass! And I think there are other questions that deal with the same issue.

My answer is purely subjective. I grew up in Ford’s tall and members of my family who treated me badly drove Opel’s most.

A Ford Scorpio is / was once even smooth 3 classes higher than a Opel Corsa (small car against the upper middle class). I learned at Opel, so I could act just as well as a “Opel – Fan”, but I don’t prefer any jumping box, just because the flash jumps on it.

Kadett02

I don’t know what a Ford scorpio is, but the corsa is hornier!

Rumpelric

Ford came up with the glorious idea together with Continental and the OilMafia, otherwise I can’t explain to build a motor where the toothed belt runs in the oil bath in the engine.
In the oil – which must be a specific one – is an additive that is intended to protect the toothed belt from premature destruction. For this, the change of oil must be changed after 15,000 km. Those who missed risk a motor damage with 100% safety. Whoever tilts the wrong oil risks the engine damage!
My colleague had the disaster after moving over the second. Oil change in his mother’s car. Km stand 25,000km.

Buying a new car today is the choice between Pest or Cholera.
I’d prefer a Opel.

Sorry, just a misinformation.

Straps in oil have been used for decades in Honda, VW and PSA. It’s not different from those of Ford. Ford jumped to this train relatively late.

The official interval for the 1L Ecoboost engines is 2 years or 30,000 Km, i.e. at 25,000 or 2 years ago, can not take place over.

The right oil should always be used. No matter what engine or manufacturer. If there is a motor damage and alleged warranty, the manufacturer can order the engine to the laboratory. If you notice that you use the wrong oil, no guarantee will be taken over. It doesn’t matter what manufacturer you are.

Anyone who generally exceeds the intervals, with no matter what car, loses the warranty first and second, he risks a damage.

Whether it’s a damaged belt or oil mud that’s freezing everywhere doesn’t matter.

At 1.5L, it needs to get out annually. Like written. For me, the construction is a salmon number. I don’t know about Honda. Dayco belts are used at VW. At Ford’s from Continental. And they are very sensitive. And if you walked me now at a 2 1/2 year old 25,000km Ford, whose 2nd oil change was overtaken half a year, as totally neglected is your thing. But that’s the time I’m in hospital for health. And then I expect the car to work without it flying around my ears. Sorry. What if the mechniker is wrong? Understood?

Jup… 2.5L series six-cylinders. 2 camshafts, a variable, 24 valves.

PatrickLassan

I can’t even tell you if that’s really the 1.5. I mean, it was a 3 cylinder.

Three-cylinder engines are available from Ford with a capacity of 1.0 and 1.5 liters, and as a car owner you should actually know the engine’s capacity, which is installed in the vehicle.

Anonym293402

According to public and official Ford maintenance intervals, in the current models there is not such a motor that has only 15,000 KM maintenance interval.

https://www.ford.de/content/dam/guxeu/de/documents/home/service/Uebersicht_Ford_Service_Maintenance Intervals.pdf

Rumpelric

Don’t ask me about the engine. There was an annual checkbook and 15,000km. The engine survived, but had to be disassembled and freed from the bribes. I can’t even tell you if that’s really the 1.5. I mean, it was a 3 cylinder. Little DIng.

Anonym293402

If the workshop makes a mistake, the workshop is liable.

Of which 1.5 liters you speak. From the 4 cylinder?

The 1,5L three-cylinders also have 30,000 Km and 2 years. Only the 200 HP variant from the ST has an annual and 20,000 Km. The 1.5L 3 cylinders have a control chain and only the oil pump drive runs over a belt. And this also only with the newer engine variants from March 2019. The older versions before March 19 have no straps. The oil pump runs over a spur gear.

If you don’t care about his car, you’ll have to worry about problems. In the past, the cars had much shorter intervals and whoever his car is worth and who cares about it shortens the intervals anyway. For most people, the car is just one of the most important things you have. That’s how you should deal with it.
