One-way sync of photo library on Mac?
Hello dear community, I have a question about iCloud synchronization of the MacOS photo library.
The following situation:
I would like to synchronize my iPhone photos via iCloud to my Macbook photo collection.
The data size of the Photo Library is over 120GB due to old data-intensive images
There is no need to sync these old data/images to the cloud and to the iPhone.
Conversely, new pictures taken with the phone should find their way into the iCloud library.
Is such a one-sided or partial synchronization possible?
Thank you very much for your help.
JJ
Hello,
I would create a second media library. You would then have two media counters, one synchronizing over icloud and the other not.
Unlocking individual images in ONE Mediathek from the synchronization is as much I don’t know…

Yeah, I thought so.
The first media library then goes up to a certain year and is not synchronized via iCloud. The second media library then continues at the time when the first media library ends. This second collection is synchronized via iCloud to computers and phones.
Right, right?
PS: It is important that mediathek is secured via an external backup.
I don’t think the media libraries are time-limited. As described on the linked page, you can start your photo app on the Mac with pressed old button and create a new media library or select a media library. Then you can select –> General in the photo app, which of the two media counters should be your “system mediathek”. This “system mediathek” is synchronized in icloud, the other not…
Of course, backups are always useful. 😉
Dsnke!
you can only synchronize everything or nothing at all.
Yes, thanks for the info
