Oil light is red even though there is enough oil in it?

Hello,

I drive a 2008 Opel Corsa EcoFlex 1l 80hp, and the oil light came on red in the middle of the highway, 30 minutes before my destination. I gave it a quick test, and the light always comes on about a minute after I've started driving (I haven't driven around since then except to briefly test it).
The oil was changed 6 months ago, and there's still plenty of oil in it (I even added a little extra). The problem is that I urgently need the car for a 60-km trip and don't have time to pop into a garage. Everything else in the car runs smoothly.

Thanks in advance

This can be all possible, filter clog, pump broken, sensor broken, cable broken, line clog…

Then the car should be connected and read out whether the car knows what is wrong or whether it is a thing that lasts longer than 24h because the mistake cannot be found, but most workshops also offer rental cars if it takes longer, for a car of this class I pay 25€ per day at my workshop.

Especially in the case of Corsa, it can be that only the oil pressure switch is defective. You could then proceed without any problems and let it be done on the next occasion.

However, it can also be that the oil pump is defective and no longer conveys oil or does not build up enough pressure. Then the further journey can result in a motor damage.

So you should definitely let the problem be cleared before you continue driving with the vehicle!

This can measure the workshop. You only notice this when the engine starts to rattle, just before he eats…

I had a corsa, too, had the same problem. Controlled the oil level and continued. As suddenly as it came back, it was probably an electronics problem. I’m trying to guess what you’re thinking. That was just a report of my experience.

Hello

Is this a tuning engine?

Pannenhelfer call that can test/check whether it is an electrical problem or the engine really produces too little oil pressure. Then the next question is oil pressure control piston, oil filter, oil suction or pump?

The Ecoflex have some active oil pressure control but only the 4

If the oil pump is broken or the oil has the wrong viscosity, you will lose your engine at 60 kilometers. You’re not going to the workshop. But maybe it’s just quick to read and reset memory. It takes 10 minutes.

It’s gonna be okay with the car.

Depending on the cause of the lamp light up, this can change very quickly.

enough oil in it (have also extra refilled a bit)

I really hope you’ve checked the oil level before. Too much oil is not healthy either.

“No oil level” you have already ruled out. Perhaps there is a problem with the oil pump (unconditionally visit workshop) or it may be a harmless mistake in electrics.

Since it is not clear whether it is harmless or serious, I recommend driving the distance up to the workshop.

Go to the workshop. A motor damage is more expensive than anything else. By the way, too much oil can lead to deficiencies.

urgent to the workshop — can lie on too much oil, or too little oil, or false visco, or broken oil pump, or defective hose, …

Then the oil pressure is not correct, perhaps a clogged line through oil sludge (with long dragged oil change) could cause an oil deficiency supply

Maybe it’s a problem with electrics – I’d have a look at the workshop…

If you continue driving and the engine is broken longer without a car, apart from the cost
