Never really used a business, but now filing a tax return anyway?

Hello,

I registered a business in 2023 as a student, after turning 18 and still living with my parents. However, my plans and ideas regarding the business have since changed. In fact, I never actively used the business and generated neither revenue nor profits nor costs.

I recently received a reminder to file my 2023 tax return. Now I'm wondering to what extent I have to file a tax return and what information I should provide, since I haven't actually used the business.

It would be very helpful if someone could help me with this.

Best regards

Now the question arises for me as to whether I have to file a tax return

Insofar as you have to submit tax returns for a business person:

  • Income tax return with Annex G
  • Profit determination (EÜR or balance sheet)
  • VAT return

and what information I should provide since I have not actually used the business.

Then you enter €0 for income and expenses, if that is the case.

If you will no longer be operating the business in the future, you should also deregister it properly.

It doesn't matter whether you used it or not. You registered it, and with that comes the obligation to file a tax return.

You will also have to do one for 2024, so I would recommend deregistering the business.
