Retinal examination?
I have -7 diopters in both eyes and haven't been to the ophthalmologist in a while (I'm in my early 30s). I went to the doctor today and was scheduled for a separate retinal exam in two weeks. What can I expect? (I googled it, but wanted to ask the question here anyway.)
-Does something like that hurt?
-Is it always the case that I am no longer allowed to drive a car after this?
-How does this usually work?
For the exact examination of the retina also looked through the iris and the lens as well as the glass body on the retina – that only works if the Iris wide open is.
This is achieved with drugs (drops) based on pseudo-adrenalin. In addition, the lens is completely “released” and the moving Ziliarmuskel, in order to be able to measure the lens correctly even independently of your physical reactions.
These drugs are re-degraded in a few hours, only after that the iris and the lens are again functional.
This means you’re set to “infinitely” – you can’t even pull a ticket at the ticket machine, you should know. In addition, “the eye is quite open” (actually the iris), so that you are extremely blinded now in the summer.
So: Assistant take along, strong sunglasses take the ticket in advance and do not participate in the road traffic with anything that has wheels.
Good luck!
