Network problem when connecting an ATEM Mini video mixer "network time protocol (ntp)"?
Hello everyone,
I know my way around video and photography. Unfortunately, when it comes to networking, I'm a zero…
I recently purchased a new video mixer, the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. It can be connected using both a USB and an Ethernet cable. The USB connection works perfectly. However, I haven't been able to establish a connection using an Ethernet cable yet.
A network connection brings some additional features that I really want to use, so I need to figure out where the problem lies.
The ATEM software shows an error (at least I consider it an error because it is displayed with red color and an exclamation mark)
"network time protocol (ntp) time.cloudflare.com" See the image attached.
I may need to choose a different server in Germany/Europe instead of "time.cloudflare.com".
This would start my search for the problem.
Can someone tell me how, what and where I need to check/change?
This is a sequence error, since the mixer is still at all no functional has connection to your home network.
You need the thing to a free LAN port (LAN2, LAN3, …) the router or connect a LAN-dose to the wall (or LAN port of the network switch).
So please don’t connect PC and mixer directly to one LAN cable, that would be bullshit. Special:
A network (LAN) means ALL devices are connected to a router at the same time, only then it can become something.
In the router (on the configuration page of the router), you can check whether your mixer has received a local IP address (from the DHCP server of the router) and also use it (see the router under connected devices). This local IP address will be typically a 192.168.yyyy.xxx be. I recommend to reserve this local IP address in the router (option in the router: “This device always gives the same IP address” = ON).
Follow the instructions on Page 721 here in the manual:

PS:
If he does not have a valid IP address, nix will work on the network (also NTP will not, as you notice). Read also the manufacturer’s note: Quote:
Configuration
Achieved via ATEM Software Control. However, the IP address of the ATEM mixer is configured by means of ATEM Switcher Utility via the USB port on the housing

Good luck!
NTP, i.e. the network time protocol is just the time. So that should work without.
Probably you don’t have any connection to the Internet or the network in general. Then the first mocks over the unachievable NTP server, but the problem is that nothing goes.
Time server there are a lot you can set. It is best to take one in Germany, because then you have less delay by long distances through the Internet and the set time is more accurate.
Which one you take is a matter of taste:

What irritates me is that the IP configuration by DHCP does not display the IPs, all to zero. But maybe they won’t show up.
You’re right.
If no IP then no TCP/IP stack.
And he won’t come out without a gateway.
To not say, the device does not reach anything on the net. However, it may be that the address given via DHCP is not displayed. Many devices are looking for other devices in the network today not via the IP but the FQDN. Some services run across the cloud, which also applies to Blackmagic devices.
Enter:
de.pool.ntp.org
Thank you. I’m on my way. Will be able to try it tomorrow. Is it a German time server?
It is a “pool” of time servers, not a certain one. for Germany, europe for Europe. https://www.ntppool.org/en/use.html
