Do liquids absorb odors?

Hi!

For example, if you have something with salami in your lunch box at school and then a chocolate bar happens, it often happens that the chocolate bar tastes like salami, which is disgusting 😅

But can something like this also happen with liquids, like water or milk? If it sits next to something like that for a long time, or something else that smells bad, does the liquid smell or even taste like it, or does that only happen with things that aren't liquid? 🤔

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I just thought of it because our cheese smells and tastes like sausage 🫤😅

Hello DerLucas2010!

Unfortunately, milk takes very much other odors/aromes, especially onion odor and taste.

I can imagine water. There is the so-called Infused Water that takes aromas of fruit.

But I have not noticed that even in the case of water near strongly smelling foods, as I did not have such a situation.

Hi, DarLucas2010.

Yes, there is.

Especially milk takes on the smells of other foods, but not water, or very little….

Greetings, Renate.
