Need help with Apple TV?

If I want to watch photos from my iPhone on my TV, I need the official Apple app. You can do that with the Apple TV 4K box. I just wanted to know, since there are Smart TV-enabled TVs that already have the Apple TV app pre-installed, is that the same as buying the box, or what's the difference?

I just wanted to know, since there are TVs that are Smart TV capable and also have the Apple TV app pre-installed.

This also works directly with smart TVs that already have Apple Screen Sharing ("Airplay") built in. Then you don't need an additional box (or an additional app).

I don't know exactly what the differences are. It's possible that individual devices differ from one another. I've only seen it with a Sony TV. You simply start Airplay on your device (e.g., iPhone) and select the TV found, and then it displays the picture and plays the sound. Playback (start, pause, etc.) is controlled by the device sending the data (e.g., the iPhone).

On the TV, this is simply another "signal input" just like the antenna input or HDMI to which it then switches.
