Naming of corresponding redox pairs?
Hi!
I'm totally lost and a complete chemistry failure. Now we've been given the task:
Name the corresponding redox pairs of the following reactions
A: Combustion of calcium
B: Reaction of sodium and bromine
C: Reduction of copper oxide (CuO) with iron.
I don't understand a thing. Would someone please help me? 😅
set the reaction equations and then you will see immediately what is reduced and what is oxidized:
1) from calcium and oxygen becomes calcium oxide
2) Sodium and bromine react to sodium bromide
3) Iron and copper oxide react to iron oxide and copper.

I still don’t understand. I have the reaction equation before me, but I still can’t write the redox pairs because I really don’t understand.
Then you have to look at the corresponding pages in your book again, because this is certainly relevant to the examination.
Ca <=> Ca(2+) + 2 e-
O +2e- <=> O(2-)
Na <=> Na(+) + e-
Br +e- <=> Br(-)
Believe me, I haven’t had hope in chemistry for a long time. This definitely helps me with the house task 🙂
No chance. The theme RedOx is definitely too complex for a bit of self-sponsored learning. This isn’t even the case here in a forum. Find a qualified learning partner or take some hours of assistance with a professional.
Sorry, I’d like to give you more hope.
Thank you.
No, I don’t have to write an exam in chemistry, we didn’t even take the subject or we don’t own a book. We’re supposed to work out all this ourselves – which obviously works suuuper
