Emigrating to America, what are the disadvantages?
Hey, I'm toying with the idea of emigrating to America, but the gun laws and healthcare system there are somehow scaring us. Is this fear justified or has it been exaggerated in Germany? So, we're exaggerating that it's apparently very bad there and Germany is very safe.
The Germans again with their fear. This is actually exaggerated.
In the United States, you can also complete health insurance. The weapons laws do not make the country much more dangerous. You should keep away from certain areas, but otherwise it is very safe in the USA.
In my opinion, a disadvantage is that in many states there is no possibility of drinking alcohol.
Murders USA 6,5/100,000, Germany: 0.3!
about 70 mass shootings this year.
very safe?
no health system, no employee protection – there you are absolutely wage slave, barely vacation claim (paid), udn if, then it is expected that you are despised, no pension insurance, high crime rate, no public transport at huge spatial distances.
I was there three years: no seven horses take me back there, except perhaps on holiday!
Oh, that doesn’t sound good
You probably mean the USA, right?
Do you have any chances of getting a visa for the USA (=>Greencard)?
If not, your plan will not work at all and you can only visit the USA as a tourist for a limited time.
So I’m an Austrian citizen, when can’t you get a green card? 😅
Greencard lottery win, Americans get married or be very well qualified to work in the USA.
As a “normal” EU citizen, you don’t just get the Greencard.
If you have a highly qualified profession for which there is a lack in the USA, then you have chances of a green card, e.g. doctors, computer scientists, engineers,… have very good chances.
“Normal citizens” without special qualifications have no chance.
Normal citizens already have enough in the United States themselves, because they do not want to have more from other countries.
I didn’t know
