Mycoplasma cat experiences?

Hello everyone, I have a question for you: Does anyone have experience with mycoplasma in cats? We received a diagnosis in one of our cats today via a swab and are now supposed to give her Doxytab twice a day for three weeks. 😥 Will she recover from this, and does it only affect her respiratory system or other areas as well?

Hello,

Treatment

In acute infections, an antibiotic treatment with tetracyclines or fluoroquinolones is possible. The average choice is Doxycycline (10 mg/kg KGW/day per os for 2-4 weeks).

In secondary immunohemolytic anemias, glucocorticoids are used.

Further measures such as blood transfusions and symptomatic treatments may be necessary.

Often, the haematropic mykoplasms cannot be completely eliminated despite long antibiosis and sequestration occurs, mainly in liver and spleen. Reactivation can be triggered by immunosuppression or other diseases. … Source: https://www.smalltierpraxis-wandsbek.de/katzen/ vaccination-katze/h%C3%A4matrope-mykoplasmen/

That should be your question…

Will it recover and affect only the respiratory tract or other areas?

… be answered.

If you don’t have any experience with dissolving pellets in water via syringe, please let the veterinarian show you. Because the danger that the cat aspirits water + medicine and then gets toxic pneumonia is great in improper use.

In addition, antibiotics should generally not be comminuted. Also in advance, consult the veterinarian.

Your cat all thoughtful good.

It’s a pneumonia and a little more serious. If the cat is still halfway young, the chances are quite good that it will pass without trace.
With antibiotics, it’s always in control. If she does not want to swallow the dozy-tool in tablet form, shred, dissolve, and spray it into the mouth with syringe (without needle!).
Also the cat should drink as much water as possible if possible. Of course, it is not so easy to control, but in doubt it also helps to spray in the mouth. Otherwise a lot of rest and warmth and regularly look and caress, then it will be.
