My VirtualMachine can't access the graphics card?

Here's what I've got: I've installed a virtual machine (VMware/VMware Workstation 17 Pro + license) on my Fujitsu workstation. Everything's set up and working perfectly. But…

I would like to install some graphics programs there (Photoshop, DaVinciResolve, Premiere, After Effects, Maya), but the problem is that the programs do not have access to the graphics card.

I did a quick bit of research and the keywords are VMware vSphere Hypervisor and “passthrough”.

But so far, what I've read online has made me dissatisfied. Apparently, it also depends on the type of graphics card, but I don't know if that's true. Some say one thing, others say another.

In my workstation I have an Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000, but I don't know if that's an advantage.

What can I do, what solutions are there for my problem?

I mean, VMware is already a professional program, but it has now fallen into disrepute due to the acquisition by Broadcom.

But maybe there are other solutions with other programs that would be better, even though I would have thrown 200 euros out the window.

I would like to discuss with experts how to solve this problem.

It would be nice if someone could help me.

Greetings M.

To enable your virtual machine to access the graphics card, GPU passthrough is the central theme. VMware Workstation does not support a direct GPU passthrough, but focuses on a virtual GPU with reduced performance. To access the full performance of your Quadro RTX 4000, you could switch to VMware vSphere that supports passthrough if your hardware (Motherboard and GPU) is compatible. Alternatively, Proxmox and KVM/QEMU also offer good GPU passthrough support, but with a little more effort at the facility.
