My house cat caught a bird?

Hello,

I was cleaning the apartment today and found a dead bird under my shoe rack. I've been wondering what a cat was doing there 😭😭

My cat isn't an outdoor cat, and is it possible he could catch any diseases from the bird? Should I go to the vet?

Thank you in advance!

It's very unlikely that your cat will get any disease.
Such a bird does not transmit more illnesses than any ornamental bird and, in addition, most diseases are not species-crossing, but mostly bird-specific and therefore absolutely harmless for a healthy fit cat and also for us humans if you do not have a weak immune system.
Cats chase birds, there is enough a wrong landing on the window and the cat can claw the bird through the tilted window, rarer, but not impossible the animal can also have landed through a tilted window in the apartment.
Cats hunt birds, even carrion is rarely eaten, that is absolutely not unusual and as long as your cat has all the necessary vaccinations, you don't have to worry about it in the normal case.

Please remove the carcass and wash your hands. That's enough.

I think the vet can't help anymore, the bird is dead.

And if I were you, I wouldn't be a veterinarian now, is that a natural behavior?

My cats catch the flies, ear knuckles and spiders, that doesn't matter.

My cat used to drag me some birds, he was healthy. Regardless of this, he once had fever, I realized about food refusal and who was much warmer than my hands.

Then I went to the vet, there was a syringe, then sleep, and then he went well.

You could pay attention to worms. But that's the only thing I liked.
