Do you have to accelerate downhill on a 2-stroke engine?

I bought a 1976 moped. It has a variator, so the engine always revs automatically when going downhill. However, the engine is lubricated by fuel. No gas = no fuel = no lubrication.

Do you have to accelerate downhill because of the lubrication or does it not matter?

I don't know much about the topic yet, which is why I'm asking such a strange question.

The problem is all 2-strokes. There was a freewheel at the time of the 2-stroke cars, so that the engine turned only with idling and lubricated enough. However, this had no engine braking effect and had to keep in mind that the brakes did not overheat.

With a spoon you can give a gas shot every 20 meters short, or, as I did with the cars, insert the choke a bit far. And don’t let the Töfflis turn excessively high, so brake beforehand, so that the speed does not rotate more than 50% too high.

In order not to overheat the brakes, I recommend that the front and rear brakes be used alternately. So the other brake has time to cool down.

I have been here in Switzerland often in the mountains with my MZ with side cars. It’s going to be a real challenge.

This depends on whether you use mixed benzine or whether the part has an extra tank for the two-stroke oil.

It is better to always give some gas in the mixture.

In severing lubrication (extra oil tank) comes whenever the engine turns oil into the engine. Whether you give gas or not.

But since the oil does not burn, there is a nice smoke cloud if you give gas again.

that doesn’t matter because always some fuel gets into the engine otherwise would go out at any downhill engine

unfortunately wrong. It is true that in old engines the “standgas” is always supplied – but this is not enough when the engine is turned up externally when it is driven off.

And in the case of more modern engines (with injection), no fuel is actually injected during the thrust operation. It doesn’t matter how they don’t have a mixture lubrication.
