Does the identity card have to be valid for 6 months when entering Turkey?
I've traveled to Turkey several times. Since I don't have a passport, I've always used my ID card as proof of identity.
I was considering traveling to Turkey again for a week in November. But now I've realized that my ID card expires in March 2024. I always assumed the travel document had to be valid for another six months. Now I read on a website that only the passport needs to be valid for six months upon entry into Turkey, but the ID card only needs to be valid for the duration of the stay (there is no minimum validity of six months).
I called the registration office yesterday and was told I could get an appointment to apply for a new ID card in two weeks at the earliest. It would take about three weeks for it to arrive, and I was told that would be too late for me, and my vacation would already be over by then.
Would it be possible to enter and exit Turkey this November with my ID card (valid until March 2024)? I don't want to take the risk of booking a vacation and then being denied entry at the airport because of this criterion.

No, neither passport nor ID must be valid for 6 months.
No, he doesn’t have to be valid for 6 months, he may have expired for a year.
Don’t worry.
If you have a German nationality, then you will also have an expired ID card for entry to Turkey.

I know a person who recently traveled to Antalya with an expired ID card. There were no problems in Germany or Turkey.
I wish you a nice trip. Where’s it going?
