Does the vehicle owner have to sign anything when reporting an infringement?

Hello

I was recently caught speeding in Basel when exiting a 50 km/h zone at 75-80 km/h. My father is the vehicle owner, but he died at the beginning of this year. Due to lack of time, I was unable to take possession of the vehicle, and now I've been caught. I simply don't care about the fine, the suspension, or the charges. My concern is that the vehicle owner is no longer alive, and I don't know what to do. I would have sold the car tomorrow, but now I'm worried. My father bought the car for me, but took over the title as vehicle owner because of insurance, etc. What should I do now? Should I still sell the car, since my family is financially modest? Would the vehicle owner have to sign something regarding the violation notice? Thank you for the answer.

If you have the letter, you can sell the vehicle. However, it is better if you are standing in the letter as a holder.

Because of the indication from Switzerland, it can probably take a little while to come. And then you can tell that the vehicle holder has died. You can also out as a responsible driver. Either the procedure will be set or you’ll get it. I can’t say how high prices are in Switzerland. You have to research yourself.

I feel the legal situation is a bit complicated and I would get legal advice. If you are at ADAC, the first hour is free at a lawyer.

Your father wasn’t the traffic controller at any time. You’ve always been the holder. Your vehicle as a registered person is only a carrier of approval.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you much more because I don’t know about the laws of Switzerland.

The death certificate and possibly the inheritance certificate are presented for the correct overwriting. Otherwise everyone can come and say that’s my car.
