It’s not easy to answer. Therefore, in detail the three variants:

  • Brake lever installed from factory -> no ABE necessary, no KBA number available
  • Brake lever from accessories -> ABE necessary, KBA number must be present, otherwise not legal.
  • Brake lever from accessories -> Chinaware without KBA number? Then not legal.

E-homologized brake levers are not available in the accessories. This would be the first variant, which, however, has no identifier on the lever itself installed “above”.

If you have installed cheap retrofit levers (Chinware, 20 Euro per unit) -> not allowed and also not capable of entry. To read:

Yes, for the brake lever you need an ABE. On the lever itself is a KBA.

Apparently, your levers are not permitted and the license for your motorcycle is extinguished.

Err… you forgot “on work”. For example, the levers on current new vehicles: Adjustable, Alu, milled -> no KBA number since already homologated together with the machine.

Sending levers to current Kawas or Suzukis can therefore be quite legal – if installed at work.

Hey!

No, just an e_number. This means that it complies with the German regulations.

There are no e-homologated brake levers in the accessories.
