If you have many mosquito bites, there are various measures that you can take to alleviate the itching and promote healing:

1. Cooling

• Cooling pads or cold envelopes: Put a cold, moist cloth or a cooling pad on the affected areas. This can ease the itching and reduce swelling.

• Ice: An ice cube wrapped in a cloth, can also be put on the stitch to calm the inflammation.

Two. Antihistamines

• ointments: antihistaminic ointments or creams available in the pharmacy can help reduce itching.

• Tablets: With very strong itching, oral antihistamines (such as cetirizin or Loratadin) can also be taken, which alleviate the itching systemically.

3. Household funds

• Vinegar: A cotton-wool, soaked in vinegar (apple or white vinegar), can be applied to the stitches. Vinegar acts slightly antiseptic and can alleviate itching.

• Aloe Vera: Fresh aloe vera gel can cool the skin and promote healing.

• Onion or garlic: A cut onion or garlic clove can be put on the stitch. These have anti-inflammatory properties and can alleviate irritation.

4. Hot water

• Hot water: In the short term, hot (but not too hot!) Water helps to denatur the protein that causes itching. A hot spoon that is briefly pressed onto the stitch can significantly reduce the itching.

Five. Avoid disinfection and scratching

• Disinfect: Clean the stitches with an antiseptic solution to prevent infections.

• Avoid scratching: try not to scratch, as this hurts the skin and increases the risk of infection. Claws can also cause the itching to last longer.

6. Creams and lotions

• Cortisone cream: A weak cortisone cream (available in the pharmacy) can help with strong itching to alleviate inflammation.

• After-bite sticks: Special sticks or gels containing ammonia or other juck-smoothing ingredients can also be used.

7. Searching mosquito sources

• Eliminate mosquitoes: Make sure you take measures to reduce mosquitoes in your environment. This could be the removal of standing water or the attachment of mosquito nets.

If, despite these measures, you are very strongly reaspecting mosquito bites or have symptoms such as swelling in unusual places (e.g. face, eyes) or respiratory complaints, you should consult a doctor as this could be a sign of a stronger allergic reaction.
