MPFL?

Hello everyone, my kneecap popped out 5 weeks ago, and today I had an appointment at the university hospital for a second opinion. The senior doctor took another look and said my kneecap is still too far to the right and even a bit too high. This is partly due to my congenital misalignment. The medial ligament is also probably torn and is healing together with scar tissue, which isn't so good. He offered me surgery, which involves an arthroscopy followed by an MPFL. A tendon is removed from my leg and used to replace the damaged ligament. He was still very undecided about the surgery, however, because I haven't tried physiotherapy yet. I've already made the appointment for the surgery, though. I honestly don't know what to do 😩 Should I try physiotherapy or just go straight to surgery? I don't know if physiotherapy will help and if it will get better.

Does anyone have experience with an MPFL?

Well, try the therapy first. You can still do the other one after that.

May I know which knee was and which direction it jumped and whether you can go without crutches because a band is torn. Good improvement.

That was just a suggestion on the question, I don’t think it is. Only if the doctor thinks about a therapy, it must be possible…
