I have a Yamaha MT125 bj2018 and I noticed that I can push it with the gear engaged, although it is very difficult and with strange noises but as far as I know it works, shouldn't that be the case or am I mistaken?

It depends. If you insert a higher gear, you can push it very well. Also with released clutch. The noises that arise are then coming from the engine and transmission. By the way, this is the way to restart the motorcycle when the battery stops your mind and you can’t start with the starter due to lack of power.
However, if it is possible in the smallest gear without blocking rear wheel, this could indicate a defective clutch.
