Engine noises BMW K 1200 R Sport?
Hi, I bought a new used motorcycle yesterday, but the old one has already done 80,000 km.
As a young motorcyclist, you naturally think about such a significant investment and pay attention to every little detail and noise.
I just wanted to describe the two most striking things that have stood out to me so far, in case anyone has experience with them and can perhaps reassure me or point something out:
When stationary in neutral with the clutch not engaged, I noticed that it makes more noise/vibrations and occasionally a noticeable clicking noise.
Also, when I rev it up a bit, above maybe 6, 7,000 rpm, it rattles/crackles a bit. I can't tell for sure if it's coming from the engine or something else like the fairing parts, etc.
According to the service booklet, the bike was serviced by BMW 3,000 km ago. I realize that with over 80,000 km on the clock, you can't expect a new motorcycle, but maybe someone can tell me something about it or give me a tip.
Thanks!
Can be a lot, but usually you get smart before you buy something like that ^^^
The best way to go to a workshop and make a complete check with a cost estimate.
Yes, this is difficult to get to know if the motorcycle is not yet owned. In forums I have read that it is well known in the model with the noises in idling and often happens that one should not worry, etc. Others say something else and so on.
Guess and hope that it is not world moving or unhealthy for the motorcycle. I’m sure you’ll be nice at the BMW branch to ask if anyone looks at the machine.
Generally, she’s going so great and I’m also very happy with my purchase.. if nothing goes wrong in the future I’m very happy.
The bike has a dry clutch. The rams a little around / that’s normal.
