Repaint moped?

Hi everyone, I bought a moped, but I don't like the color. Now I was wondering how I can paint the plastic parts? I was planning to sand off/lightly remove the clear coat and then paint it over with black automotive paint, but will that work? Or do I need to do something else?

Before the answer comes – "Why didn't you get one in the color you like?" – I got it from a colleague for a very low price! 😛

Painting the seat is quite hopeless. In any case with any paint that will break immediately. But there are colors for “plastic leather, so you can try it even if I’m not convinced.

In case of doubt, I would rather leave the mopped what it is before you do experiments that make the thing look quite ugly.

Unfortunately, it is not much better with plastic either. The “Autolack” becomes brittle because the plastic is not as stable as e.g. sheet metal. Especially in heat and sunlight. I’ve tried something like that, but I’ve never been really happy. If at all, then you need a special paint for plastics. And then – again specifically for plastics, some layers of clear lacquer. Let the best advise you in a specialist shop about the right paint structure!

In addition, such a painter must learn his job for 3 years – that has his reason.

So – honestly – I can’t do much hope there! One alternative is that the plastic parts are needed for small money in your favourite colour!
