Monitor connected to old laptop – no sound. What to do?
I bought a cheap 24" monitor and connected it to a 15" laptop. Unfortunately, I now have no sound on the new monitor. It's a Medion Akoya P52424 and an Acer Aspire laptop. The monitor only came with an HDMI cable, a power cable, and a stand.
I only noticed the missing sound because I wanted to solve another problem. I can't adjust the monitor. The manual stated that the tilt angle was adjustable. After mounting it on this stand, the monitor now leans slightly forward or downward :-(. Since I have no idea how it's supposed to be movable once it's fully assembled, I wanted to watch the whole thing on YouTube. But without the sound, it's of little use. :-(.
Question: How does it work?
According to the instructions, the Medion Akoya P52424 has no integrated speakers.
Really? And then why doesn’t the sound just come from the laptop?
Did you install Windows 10 or 11?
No, it’s private data in the home network. And soon it will work with Windows 11. I’ll try this again. Thank you for the feedback.
To do this, you have to go into the Control Panel on “Hardware & Sound” and there on “Sound”. There you can choose your laptop speaker and set “As standard”.
Windows 8.1 is no longer supported by Microsoft and no longer receives security updates. Just to work, & perhaps even with sensitive business data, Windows 8.1 should not be used anymore.
I use Windows 8.1., I also have a new Acer with Windows 11. However, since I have to work with the stored contents on the old laptop, and all this did not want to save on the new one, it is Windows 8.1.
Normally, you can adjust it at the laptop. Look for sound in the settings.
I had the idea, but I don’t think the settings. Use Windows 8.1 and all Google information with Windows 10 or 11 are the names or steps different. I don’t know.
Open settings and then search for sound
I will try it again…. It’s time for the fresh air…
Not every screen has built-in boxes
You need to set in the sound settings on the laptop
