It seems that Apple Pay is not compatible with a Maestro card.

Instead, you need one Debit or credit card. Here are the steps you can take:

  1. Contact your bank: Ask Deutsche Bank if you can apply for a virtual debit card (often referred to as “Virtual Debit Card”). This card can be issued specifically for use with Apple Pay.
  2. Application of the map: If your bank offers this, you can apply for the virtual debit card via Deutsche Bank’s Mobile Banking app. You may need to use a photoTAN to confirm the process.
  3. Apple Wallet setup: After you get the virtual debit card, you can add it to the Apple Wallet app on your iPhone. Follow the instructions in the Wallet app to add and verify the card.

As regards costs, they vary depending on the bank and type of card. A virtual debit card could cause additional charges, but often these are lower than that of a physical card. It is worth checking directly with your bank.

But you can also do the following.

Add Paypal and pay in shops.

This does not work with the Maestro card (Girocard) of Deutsche Bank.

But you can set up a virtual debit mastercard for free, please read https://www.deutsche-bank.de/pk/konto-and-map/services/mobiles-pay.html

That’s a girocard, that’s not an Apple Pay.
