Book a flight with your current ID card?
I'm going to Madeira in December, but I haven't booked my flight yet. I have to provide my ID number when booking, and my old ID expires in November. Will that cause problems, or can I just change my ID number? Because if I wait until the new ID arrives, the flight will be more expensive. I'm booking through the Portuguese airline Tap Air, so maybe someone has experience with this.
In Spain or Portugal, the identification number is always the same. It is a number of persons that is also a tax number.
For other nationalities, this is more formal. It does not come to the document, but to the person.
You can do two things: call there and ask or get you a new ID.
Usually you can change the identity document later or it is only required when checking in. In case of doubt, you can also bring the old ID. There will therefore be no difficulties.
The ID number for bookings is a field that makes no sense for foreigners.
Young. Take your passport
Usually you need the ID number only at check-in, not even when booking. So this should not be a problem (or even if you add the number immediately, you can change your API before check in again). So no problem
I have flew globally and have never had to give my ID number when booking.
It’s different from Airline to Airline.
According to my knowledge, you do not have to enter an ID card number when booking. This is only done when checking in. And by then, you should have the new ID.
You can’t book with the Portuguese airline when booking.
Could you send them a message that the number could change?
